Results of the Survey on Understanding of the Academic Community towards the Vision and Mission of the Faculty of Engineering

In order to evaluate the understanding of all academic community Faculty of Engineering regarding the existing vision and mission, from March to July 2021 an online survey has been held. At the end of the survey, there were 449 respondents consisting of 32 lecturers, 23 education staff and 394 students. Of all the respondents, 440 respondents (97.9955%) answered that they knew that the Faculty of Engineering UNSRAT had a vision and mission, while the rest, 9 respondents (2.0045%) answered that they did not know about this vision and mission. This figure is very encouraging because it means almost all academic community The Faculty of Engineering is aware of the faculty's vision and mission.

Of the total respondents who answered that they knew the existence of a vision and mission, a data cleaning process was carried out for unusual things (for example, students who filled out had been part of the Faculty of Engineering for more than 10 years), and 434 valid answers were obtained.

Furthermore, the evaluation of the vision and mission is carried out through 1 question and 4 statements related to the respondent's understanding. The questions and statements are:

  1. What is your level of understanding of the vision and mission of the Faculty of Engineering UNSRAT?
  2. The current vision and mission ALREADY cover the latest needs and developments
  3. Faculty leaders ALREADY strive to implement the vision and mission in every aspect of the Faculty of Engineering
  4. The current vision and mission NOT YET reflected in every activity carried out by the Faculty of Engineering UNSRAT
  5. As part of the Faculty of Engineering, UNSRAT, you HAVE implemented the vision and mission in tridharma activities (if you are a lecturer), student affairs (if you are a student), and other activities. administrative (if you are an education staff).

For each question/statement, the respondent fills in with a score within 1 to 6, where 1 means Strongly Disagree, while 6 means Strongly Agree.

Processing is done by calculating the average value for each question, after previously reversing the scale of statement number 4 so that all instruments become positive questions/statements. Each question/statement is coded in the order Q1 to Q5, as described above. The average answers of these respondents are shown in the bar chart below.

It was found that for Q4: “Current vision and mission NOT YET reflected in every activity carried out by the Faculty of Engineering UNSRAT” is a statement with the lowest average score, which is 3.6. On the other hand, Q3: “Faculty leaders ALREADY strive to implement the vision and mission in every aspect of the Faculty of Engineering” is the statement with the highest average score (4.93). For Q1, Q2 and Q5, the mean values ​​are almost uniform.

From the two extremes depicted in this survey, we should be proud that our leaders received a very good assessment regarding the efforts to implement the vision and mission. On the other hand, the implementation of the vision and mission in all aspects of the Faculty of Engineering needs more serious attention. Of course, this is our collective responsibility, as academic community Faculty of Engineering, Sam Ratulangi University.
