Human resources are part/component of internal factors in the Faculty of Engineering, Sam Ratulangi University (Unsrat). This includes education staff (lecturers) and education personnel (employees). As part/component of internal factors, its existence in carrying out the functions of the Tridharma of Higher Education is important. These resources have a role in the process of Education, Research and Community Service.
The provision of education to students requires a ratio of the number of lecturers and students in accordance with the standards set by the Ministry of Education. Then, these resources need to have a better level of education, namely at the level of Strata-3 (Doctoral) Education. This is so that the teaching and learning process can be carried out properly and correctly. The implementation of a good and correct teaching and learning process if there is a transfer and study of knowledge that can provide knowledge and skills for students and lecturers. So in a good and correct learning process, it will provide benefits for students and lecturers in self-development in ethics, morals, knowledge and skills.
Conducting research requires creativity from lecturers and staff to produce works that are oriented towards new innovations. This can happen if each research activity is carried out by collaborating between lecturers and between employees who have competence and involve students in it. The product of the research is focused on developing science and can be utilized by the community and the industrial world.
The implementation of community service is a form of participation and professionalism of lecturers and employees to be involved in overcoming problems that exist in the community. This is important because Lecturers and Employees are part of the community who have competencies and skills that can be devoted to solving existing engineering problems. By developing tolerance and caring, community service is realized with real, active practices.
To achieve the success of service, research and community service, measures are needed with Key Performance Indicators (IKU) and work contracts. These two factors are used as an assessment standard to measure the success of the implementation of the Tridharma of Unsrat Higher Education which has a Vision and Mission of Excellence and Culture. Furthermore, Unsrat's vision and mission are translated into Engineering science in the form of the Vision and Mission of the Faculty of Engineering, namely Towards an international-standard and local-characterized Faculty of Engineering.
From the description described above, the Faculty of Engineering requires an actual and prospective human resource development concept. For this reason, the concept of human resource development at the Faculty of Engineering Unsrat was formulated.
